Good preparation will help you to enjoy your trip!
IMPORTANT — Be sure to bring long sleeves, pants, an insect net, hat, and bug spray. Early summer in the middle of the forest can get buggy.

We recommend placing personal items inside a dry bag or a sealable bag or container to keep them dry. It's very easy to lose items in the water if they do not float.
No. A trip down the Indian River is a leisurely float and is considered a class 1 river, which is the slower of our country’s waterways. We ask that you pull your kayak up onto the shore at the end of the trip, but kayaks aren't heavy, and other members of your group can help if you need it.
There are several areas along the trip where you may pull your kayak to shore and stop and rest. We simply ask that you do not stop in the designated “erosion” sites.
You may bring food with you, but please do not litter in the river or throughout the National Forest. Please take your trash with you when you leave, or place it in one of the designated trash cans.
There is no bathroom along the river. There is a nice, primitive outhouse at the start and end point.
You may take pictures at any point along your trip. Just be careful to keep your phone or camera in a waterproof bag when not in use. Baldy Shores Kayaking is not responsible for phones dropped in the river.
