Always wear your life jacket.
It is not uncommon for a kayak to turn over, especially if you are a beginner. We suggest that you secure all personal items in a dry bag, watertight container or zip lock freezer bag.
Be aware of your surroundings so that you do not hit someone else with your paddle.
If you should turn your kayak over, most areas of the river are shallow enough that you can stand up and pull your kayak to the shore where you can get back into it.
